Weekend Modules: Fridays 5:30 to 8:00 pm, Saturdays 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm; Sundays 11:30 am to 5:00 pm
Modules:
Module 1: Salute the Sun: Power Vinyasa Foundations 1: Begin aligning your practice from the ground up: learn the alignment breakdown of Sun Salutations and an introduction to power vinyasa yoga and its different formations, schools, and perspectives.
Module 2: Root to Rise: Power Vinyasa Foundations 2: Meet the Bandhas and learn their importance for grounding and engagement. As we further explore power vinyasa, you’ll redefine what grounding means in and beyond a yoga practice. You’ll also learn the ins and outs of standing postures through thorough cueing practice.
Module 3: Open Hearts, Open Minds: Power Vinyasa Foundations 3: Discover where and how the body stores emotions and integrate heart opening into your yoga practice. We’ll begin examining the structure of a yoga class as you learn how to align backbending and hip opening postures.
Module 4: Asana Alignment: Anatomy and Functional Movement: See your body in an entirely new way and improve the safety of your practice. You’ll learn the anatomical foundations to asana practice by exploring planes of movement, joint action, opposing muscle groups, and isotonic/isometric movement as they apply to the physical practice.
Module 5: The Yogic Path: Yoga Philosophy: Reach the center of the yoga experience. We’ll read and discuss the foundational myths and themes that inspire and inform yoga, including core yoga philosophy concepts such as the eight limbs, karma, and brahman.
Module 6: Beyond the Asanas: Chakas, Energetics, and Meditation: Connect the physical to the spiritual aspects of yoga. You’ll learn the history and practice of chakras, mudras, and pranayama as spiritual, energetic, and thematic focuses of a yoga practice.
Module 7: Breath and Movement: Power Vinyasa Foundations 4: Explore the use of breath as a yogic tool as we draw together previous modules to structure sequences. Learn the alignment breakdown of inversions, arm balances, and seated postures and more deeply explore the practice of vinyasa yoga.
Module 8: Shift Your Gaze: Power Vinyasa Foundations 5: Experience yoga from an instructor’s perspective. Learn how to safely transition between poses, develop skills to safely plan a yoga class, and write your own vinyasa sequences and practice teaching them.
Module 9: Embodied Wisdom: Yin Yoga Foundations: Balance your practice and expand your knowledge with another form of yoga. Learn the philosophy, added history, and practice of yin yoga, including alignment of yin postures, energetics, and developing sequences.
Module 10: Vibrate the Cosmos: Social Justice and Yoga: Live yoga off the mat for a wholly aligned practice. You’ll reimagine teaching and practicing yoga through a social justice lens as we build a more ethical yoga practice. We will find the intersections between yoga and spiritual activism while addressing cultural appropriation in yoga culture to create a more inclusive, transformational space for all to practice.
Module 11: Understand through Compassion: Gentle and Inclusive Yoga: Cultivate a radically welcoming yoga space with an inclusive yoga practice. You’ll learn how to adapt to various ability levels by studying how yoga connects to the nervous system. You’ll apply your knowledge by creating gentle vinyasa sequences.
